Bestia DTLA

I finally had the chance to try Bestia in Downtown LA and let me tell you, it was seriously one of the best meals I have had. Just so you know, I am a huge foodie and I will eat almost anything other than exotic meats/poultry, I tried everything I could fit into my stomach! The hype about this place is real and worth it! It takes just about 3 months to get a reservation alone and I definitely needed to blog about it! I went for my birthday with my boyfriend and this is what we ordered:

Best Downtown Los Angeles Veal Tartare Julia FriedmanTo start: Veal Tartare -I know, I know, sounds and looks strange but the flavors were so incredible, you forget that you are eating raw meat!

Best Downtown Los Angeles Bone Marrow Julia Friedman1st Appetizer: Bone Marrow - This was my favorite dish of the meal. It comes on top of little spinach pasta dumplings and you scrape out the bone marrow, mix it in with the dumplings, and eat them together. I'm not lying when I say fireworks went off in my mouth when I ate this, it was THAT good.

Bestia Downtown Los Angeles Mussels and Clams.2nd Appetizer: Mussels and Clams - First off, can we talk about the presentation!? I mean c'mon it looks too good not to eat! I am not a huge shellfish person, but the sauce and the bread with the mussels and clams was a whole other story. The sauce was the highlight for me! It was a light yet super spicy sauce that our waiter recommended we saved to dip our pizza crust in.

Best Downtown Los Angeles Pizza Julia FriedmanPizza: Burrata - Burrata is my favorite cheese so whenever I see anything with Burrata on it, I get it! This pizza was so good. It was also topped with olives, oregano, and fermented chilies. The flavors all complimented each other very well. Definitely one of the best pizzas I have had in LA. If you go to Bestia, pizza is a must!

Pastas: Quadretti alla Carota & Cavatelli alla Norcina - Originally I wanted to get a light pasta since we ordered ribeye next, and for that reason we got the Quadretti which was light and buttery with mushrooms, green garbanzos, lemon, tomatoes and watercress lettuce.  As soon as that came, we got the news that they ran out of the ribeye that they were serving as a special that night. I'm honestly happy they ran out of ribeye because by this point I was stuffed, but we got the Cavatelli and it hit the spot! The ricotta dumplings were paired with a housemade pork sausage, black truffles, and a cheese similar to parmesan. My mouth is watering just writing this!

For dessert we got a Buttermilk Einkorn Cake which was light and simple, but I think next time I would get something a little richer and more special because I was already in a food coma by this point anyways! The prices at Bestia are pretty fair considering all the fancy ingredients used. I'll definitely go back to Bastia hopefully soon, and I would go with a group of 3 or 4 people so I can try more things and not fill up so quickly!

Where is the best meal you have ever eaten from?
