Weekend Getaway: Little Palm Island

Well it’s been a year since I’ve written in the ‘Travel’ section on the blog. One of the reasons I began blogging and essentially fell in love with creating was the ability to travel and be inspired by the ever-changing environments around me. Due to the pandemic and the current state of the world this year, traveling was put on hold and it was absolutely devastating for me.

In case you missed it, Harry and I moved to Miami in late September this year. The change has been so refreshing, yet challenging at the same time (more on that in another post). We both work nearly seven days a week and since traveling is really not possible for us, and flying would not be responsible, I began doing research on places we could drive to from Miami. I stumbled upon Little Palm Island Resort & Spa and was instantly intrigued. A 3-hour drive to an enchanting hotel on a private island? Yes, please! I reached out to the hotel and they so generously were able to host me in exchange for social posts (how I usually am able to travel to luxury hotels). This past weekend we stayed at their absolutely gorgeous property and I wanted to write a recap on our stay.

On Saturday morning, we drove down to the Florida Keys, specifically to Summerland Key, to board a boat where we would embark on a 20 minute journey to Little Palm Island. Upon arrival, we were shown to our charming bungalow-style room with champagne and “sushi” chocolates waiting for us. We unpacked, then went fishing, watched the sunset, and had an amazing dinner. The hotel had been hit by Hurricane Irma, so they had recently finished renovating many of the accommodations and main areas. There are 30 guest rooms, a dining area with a spectacular daily menu, an indoor/outdoor spa, gym, pool, and private beach on the island, what else do you need in life? It’s truly a dreamy place that I feel so lucky to have been able to visit!

Shop my looks:

Sunday morning we had breakfast and laid out on the beach for most of the day. In the afternoon we took a little boat out on the crystal blue water, and drove around the perimeter of the island. We kept saying how crazy it was that we were literally on a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, just 3 hours away from where we live. We had another romantic and delicious dinner Sunday night and actually talked at dinner until the restaurant was closing. We don’t bring out phones to dinner when we are staying at a resort and it’s one of the nicest ways to stay present while traveling. I should also add, Little Palm does not have TV’s in the rooms, they only have one TV in the main dining area, which really allows you to disconnect from the world. We left Monday morning feeling more refreshed and inspired than I have been all of 2020. It was a weekend that I will truly never forget.

Thank you Little Palm Island Resort & Spa for the most romantic and serene weekend escape. I hope to be back soon!
