I Moved to Miami

If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably noticed I moved from Los Angeles to Miami at the beginning of the month. I shared a bit on stories why Harry (my boyfriend) and I moved across the country but I thought I would write a blog post to share some more details and I haven’t written on here in such a long time, my creative juices are flowinnnn!

At the start of the Covid-19 shutdown, everything we knew and loved about Los Angeles changed. Our favorite places were closed, we couldn’t go out, go to events, go the gym, you get the point and I’m sure a lot of you experienced the same sort of things. After 7 months, nothing changed. We were cooped up in our apartment with our dog and we were barely even seeing family because no one wanted to put anyone at risk. We would see our closest friends and try to live like we did before the Pandemic, but nothing was the same *cue Drake* lol.

I’ve always worked from home and Harry has had to work remote due to the Pandemic. So really, we could be anywhere in the world and still do what we do. We started talking about changing things up. We obviously can’t travel internationally right now and honestly even traveling within the United States wasn’t something that was appealing to us given the circumstances. I’ve always toyed with the idea of living in a different place for a year (kinda like I did when I moved to NYC, but moved back to LA because I met Harry a.k.a Mr. Right). Miami is the next best option, and there is no winter! I’ve personally never been afraid of trying new things, getting outside of my comfort zone, and we both lost the affinity with Los Angeles we once had. The only thing that was making me uneasy, was leaving my family, again.

We decided on Miami because of the beautiful weather, the quality of life, the culture, and the easy access we will have traveling to New York and Europe (where Harry’s Family lives) once we can safely travel again. My family was so excited for me to experience a new adventure and their support made me feel at ease with our decision. About a week after talking about moving, we booked flights to visit Miami and find an apartment.

We stayed in South Beach while looking at different places we could live. We only looked at 3 options in person and found the most amazing spot, right on the water, with a view of the bay, marble floors, the walk in closet of my dreams, and in a beautiful and safe building.

We were so anxious waiting to get the call from our realtor to see if we got the place or not. We go the call a couple days after our showing, actually on my birthday, September 20th! We were buzzing. Like BUZZING. We went back to Los Angeles September 26th, packed up 5 HUGE suitcases, got Rex registered as an emotional support animal so he could fly with us in the cabin, and loaded as much stuff possible into one car that we were having shipped. We flew back to Miami on the 28th, stayed in a hotel for 2 days and then moved into our dream apartment on October 1st (best day ever)! We have like 1/10 of everything we ordered for the place. COVID has really slowed factories down when it comes to furniture manufacturers. Everything we got is a mixture of high and low pieces. Think Wayfair mixed with Arhaus/Rove Concepts vibes. I’m very excited to start sharing home content on here and over on Instagram! Stay tuned!

I can’t say I know what this next chapter will bring, but I know that change is good, the weather is good, the food is good, and I’m so grateful to have a partner that is so supportive and is truly my best friend. And as always, thank YOU for the support! xxx
